This policy explains how Haus ID collects, uses, holds and discloses your personal information. It applies to our website, our waitlist, and the Haus ID application and services (the “Services”). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using the Services, or by giving us your information, you agree to this policy.
The Services are operated by Haus ID (“Haus ID”, “we”, “us”). The best way to contact us about your privacy is by email at hello@hausid.au.
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and — if you choose to give them — your name and phone number.
About voice input. Voice input is optional — you can always type instead. When you use it, the speech-to-text is performed by your web browser, not by Haus ID. Some browsers (for example Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) do this by sending the audio to the browser provider’s own servers to transcribe it; that processing is governed by that provider’s privacy terms, not ours. Haus ID only ever receives the text, and we handle that text the same as anything else you type into your home records.
We collect most information directly from you — when you join the waitlist, create an account, add records, or contact us. We also collect some information automatically when you use the Services (for example through cookies and analytics), and, where relevant, from the third-party sources described above.
We collect, hold and use personal information to:
Where the law requires your consent for a particular use, we rely on the consent you give us, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Waitlist signups: if you have joined the waitlist, we email you about the Haus ID launch and early access, and may also send product updates, surveys and offers. You can unsubscribe from these at any time.
To run the Services, we share personal information with others. We may disclose it to:
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia, in the countries where they operate. Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, using measures such as access controls and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires, and then delete or de-identify it.
You can, at any time:
To exercise any of these, email hello@hausid.au.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Services are used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; turning some off may affect how the Services work.
The Services are not intended for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “last updated” date above. If the change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
For any question, request or complaint about your privacy, contact us at hello@hausid.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
